The book surrounds the May 25, 2006 murder of Wendy Bennett McCarter, 35, and two grandchildren, Scott Jr. 12, and Melanie, 6. The book retells the events leading up to that day - the arrest and criminal trial - and the violent aftermath. The book also tells the story of participation in the successful fight to abolish the death penalty in NJ, and the reforms made to the NJ Division of Youth and Family Services by the case. Eileen Bennett, author, has a BA in Journalism from Rowan University. She has been a reporter/editor for nearly 30 years. She retired from The Press of Atlantic City in 2003, and is very proud to say that last year she received her 20-year-pin from The Society of Professional Journalists. She now lives in Mauricetown, NJ with her husband Chick.
